Today, students and teachers at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University had the opportunity to watch short and full-length documentaries presented by the all-Ukrainian tour of the “TRO Media” team. The films featured servicemen from the Territorial Defense Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, their families, and residents of settlements affected by attacks by russian troops in Ukraine. Featured documentaries include “On the Other Side of the World,” “The Garden of Memory,” and “Ready for Resistance: 105th TRO Brigade.”
Ruslan Zapukhliyak, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, stated, “We have gathered here to witness, feel, and acknowledge the moments shaping our modern history together. It’s crucial today to bring these stories to the public and reveal the truth. Although these stories are tragic, we must understand and remember the price of our independence.”
The “Movie Days from TRO” is an all-Ukrainian tour by the TRO Media team, showcasing documentaries, stories, and photo exhibitions created by servicemen from the Public Relations Service of the Territorial Defense Forces Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Before the film screening began, the creators, including Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen, director Oleksandr Tkachuk, and journalist Mykola Kobyliuk, discussed the main idea of the films with students and explained why their team initiated the film marathon. A discussion with the students followed the presentation.
“The film not only shares life stories but also combat narratives, accompanied by footage shot at the front and videos from the private archives of the 107th Brigade,” mentioned Oleksandr Tkachuk, a serviceman and the director.
“We create content to counter our common enemy with information,” added Mykola Kobyliuk, a journalist and serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The primary goal of the “Movie Days from TRO” event is to present the war unvarnished, showcasing documentary evidence of war crimes committed by the russian army in Ukraine, bolstering motivation for military service among conscripted citizens, and fostering national and patriotic education among Ukraine’s youth.
Beyond film screenings, attendees could explore the “Length in War” photo exhibition. This display features reportage photography on military themes by Colonel Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskyi, head of the Public Relations Service of the Territorial Defense Forces Command, and junior sergeant photographer Oleh Palchyk. About 200 photos from the war included in this exhibition act as photographic evidence of the criminal actions of the Russian army. These photos were taken immediately after the deoccupation of Kyiv Oblast – in Bucha, Borodianka, Stoyanka.
It is noteworthy that the photos from this exhibition have been displayed in eight European countries.
